1. How do teams work in Speed Mechanic?
Speed Mechanic uses a simple team structure:
-
A coach creates a team which generates a unique Team Code.
-
Athletes and additional coaches use that code to join the team and instantly gain access to training, templates, and performance data.
2. How do I create a team?
-
A coach creates a team from the dashboard.
-
Speed Mechanic then generates a Team Code which can be shared with athletes and other coaches.
3. How do athletes and coaches join a team?
Joining is simple:
-
Enter the Team Code provided by the coach.
-
Or, tap one of the Join Team buttons located throughout the app (dashboard, profile, onboarding) and enter the team code.
Once joined, members can access team-specific templates, shared sessions, and performance history.
4. Can an athlete use Speed Mechanic without being on a team?
Yes. Athletes can train solo with full functionality. They can use built-in or their own custom-created templates, run guided sessions, and track progress - all without joining a team.
5. If an athlete trains on their own, can coaches still see the results?
Coaches can only see results for athletes who are part of their team. If a member of their team trains independently, that athlete's session still syncs to the team dashboard giving coaches a complete view of their team members’ development.
6. Does Speed Mechanic include built-in workouts?
Yes. Speed Mechanic includes a library of predefined, adjustable templates and activities organized by discipline (e.g., sprints, jumps, throws, distance, strength, conditioning). This allows coaches and athletes to start training immediately, with no setup required.
7. Can coaches create their own templates?
Yes - and they have two options:
-
Create a template from scratch; or
-
Copy and modify an existing template (built-in or team-made).
Any template a coach creates becomes unique to that team. Only team members are able to view and use their coach created templates; and, coaches can update it at any time.
8. How do guided sessions work?
Athletes tap a template and follow a step-by-step guided flow. Reps, distances, times, and rest periods are all pre-configured; and, logging results is fast and intuitive.
9. What performance data does Speed Mechanic track?
Speed Mechanic allows you to captures metrics such as
-
Sprint times
-
Jump metrics
-
Strength numbers
-
Conditioning outputs
-
Session summaries
-
Competition results
This builds a complete performance history for each athlete.
10. How does Speed Mechanic calculate target times like 80% effort?
Speed Mechanic displays a real-time calculated target time to show athletes what a specific effort level (e.g., 80%) should look like in actual seconds. The calculation uses the best baseline data available for the specific athlete in this order:
-
The athlete’s Personal Best (PB) for that activity;
-
Performance data previously marked as 100% effort; or
-
Goal time (if no PB or 100% effort exists).
-
If no data exists, the Speed Mechanic app prompts the athlete to run a baseline rep. This converts subjective effort (“run at 80%”) into objective pacing, helping athletes stay consistent and train at the correct intensity.
11. What can coaches see on the team dashboard?
Coaches get real-time visibility into items such as:
-
Who trained today
-
What sessions were completed
-
How athletes performed
-
Trends over time
-
Template usage across the team
This turns raw training into actionable insights.
12. Can solo athletes track long-term progress?
Yes. Solo athletes who are not a part of a team get the same progress charts, history, and performance summaries as team athletes.
13. Where or how can I view performance analytics?
Dashboards and analytics are available by logging in to the Speed Mechanic website.
